Per capita income of Lhasa residents exceeds 10,000 yuan

By the end of 2008, the disposable per capita income of the urban residents in Lhasa reached 13,647 yuan, up 10.27% from the previous year, according to the news from relevant departments recently.

Meanwhile, the housing project for farmers and herdsmen, a task issued by the autonomous region, was completed two years ahead of schedule, and the reform of state-owned enterprises saw dramatic breakthroughs, said Qin Yizhi, secretary of the Lhasa Municipal Committee of the CPC.

He added that these achievements have resulted in continuous social improvements and economic growth, as well as continuous improvements in the lives of local people.

Moreover, statistics show that social assets investment in Lhasa reached 10.9 billion yuan for 2008, representing a year-on-year growth of 10.27%, and the per capita income for rural residents reached 3,738 yuan, representing a year-on-year growth of 15%.

Lhasa's GDP for 2008 is expected to reach 13.9 billion yuan, an increase of 14.02% from last year.
