Special luxury tourist trains will run on the Qinghai-Tibet Railway, according to the Xining Evening News.

The Qingzang Railway Corporation has already set up a joint venture with US Rail Partners. The joint venture, named Tanggula Tourism Train Company, will specialize in the operation of sightseeing trains.

In 2008, relevant officials in the tourism departments of Qinghai Province communicated with officers of TUI China Travel and made some concrete progress. They talked about the luxury special train's four stations on the Qinghai-Tibet Railway within Qinghai Province, Xining, Bird Island, Delingha and Golmud, scenic spots along the railway, about the duration of time the train will stop at each station, about the route for visiting scenic spots, about the facilities throughout the trip as well as about the train's overnight stop in the city of Delingha.

The special luxury trains, with a joint investment of 150 million USD from the Qingzang Railway Corporation and the foreign company, will meet the standards of a "five star" train, equipped with 48 deluxe suites and 96 seats.

According to plans, travelling from Beijing to Lhasa aboard the train will take five days and four nights.
