800,000 "second-generation" ID cards have been issued to residents in cities and towns of Tibet by the end of 2008. In 2009, "second-generation" ID cards will be handed out in the remote areas of Tibet, TAR Public Security Bureau reported.
TAR Public Security Bureau introduced that Tibetans above 16 years old can keep on applying for second-generation ID cards after the deadline. And for those people owning the "first-generation" ID cards, their ID cards are still valid till they get the "second-generation" ID cards.
Officials from TAR Public Security Bureau call for Tibetans to transact the second-generation ID cards as soon as possible to avoid the unnecessary troubles in daily life.
