"The concept of harmony" in a Russian reporter's eyes

Feature: My impression on Tibet

"I had close contact with some people in Lhasa and found that the religious people could speak freely and fully enjoyed freedom of religion", wrote Evgeny Solovev, Chief of the Beijing office of "Russian Newspaper", in his article on March 19 released by People's Daily.

The full text runs as follows:

"I was on a reporting trip to Lhasa at the end of March last year. It was the first time I ever set foot in Tibet, and it left me with a profound impression.

The natural environment of Tibet is well protected and the scenes are so beautiful there!

I was profoundly captivated by the charming blue sky, the towering snow-capped mountains, the clear lakes as well as the ancient temples and lamaseries.

I felt like I was in the middle of a painting. In the past I could only appreciate the Tibetan scenery through pictures. I felt, after seeing it for real, that its beauty could never be fully captured by any picture.

I visited the Potala Palace where I saw people working to maintain the well-protected buildings.

I also had close contact with some people in Lhasa and found that the religious people could speak freely and fully enjoyed freedom of religion.

While successfully progressing in modernization, Tibet is also doing an excellent job in protecting its cultural relics.

All this, I believe, is in conformity with the concept of harmony.

If I have the chance, I would love to visit Tibet again."
