
Southwest China's Sichuan Province plans to raise 70 million yuan to open a Khampa (a dialect of the Tibetan language)TV channel, according to the Provincial Administration of Radio, Film and Television Tuesday.
The Khampa dialect is spoken by the Tibetans living in the Tibetan prefectures including Qamdo in eastern Tibet Autonomous Region, Ganzi of Sichuan Province, Yushu of Qinghai Province and Diqing of Yunnan Province.
Under way now are preparations for the project, which has been approved by provincial departments concerned.
The new TV service will cover five province-level areas, namely, Tibet, and Sichuan, Qinghai, Gansu and Yunnan provinces and is expected to enrich the cultural life of the Tibetan residents.
