The Tibetan Regional Government will spend 820 million yuan promoting the development of industries with local characteristics in agriculture and animal husbandry.
The total investment is 150 percent up from last year. In the last five years, the local government of the southwest region has spent 1 billion yuan and supported and promoted 173 agricultural and animal husbandry projects with unique characteristics.

The annual incomes of Tibetans farmers and herdsmen have increased by 600 yuan per capita with the development of unique local agriculture and animal husbandry, according to the Development and Reform Commission of region.
This year, the regional government will continue to raise subsidies for agriculture, with subsidies for chemical fertilizer at 100 million yuan, farm machines 50 million yuan and pesticides 15 million yuan.
By now, Tibet has set up industrialized production bases for livestock with unique local characteristics like Nyingchi Prefecture's pigs, Bailang's vegetables and potatoes in Nanmulin.
Meanwhile, among the total investment, at least 50 million yuan will be invested in the development of agricultural technology and another 50 million yuan will be used to offer training lessons to farmers and herdsmen.
