To mark the 50th anniversary of democratic reform in Tibet, the commemoration medals came into market officially on May 6 issued by the Philately Company of the Tibet Autonomous Region (TAR) with the supervision of the TAR Postal Company.

The medals are made from silver mixed with gold together with color bullion (2,000 sets issued with the price of 2,580 yuan per set) or jade mixed with silver together with color bullion (5,000 sets issued with the price of 380 yuan per set).

In the first kind of suit, there is a piece of jade and pure gold slices with the upside and the back separately (the slices weigh 4kg). In addition, the suit boasts an auspicious drum made from imported rosewood and 4 pieces of color bullion with the weight of 4 ounce as well as a postcard marking the 50th anniversary of democratic reform in Tibet. In each package you can find the inspection report from the National Center for Quality Supervision & Testing of Gold and Silver Products and the notarial deed from Lhasa Sunshine Notary Office.

As for the suit of medals made from jade mixed with silver together with color bullion, its package is the same as the first kind except that it has one pure silver slice and one piece of color bullion.

The sets with number 0001 of both kinds of the medals have been collected by the TAR Museum.

(1 USD equals about 6.83 yuan.)
