Sichuan Province will host an international women's challenge in its alpine areas in the Ganzi Tibetan Autonomous Prefecture on Oct. 12.
The 12-day tournament will double as an international sport and cultural exchange campaign featuring four overseas and five domestic teams.
Apart from competitive challenges cycling, mountaineering and orienteering, participants will enjoy local cultural activities and experience the life of Tibetan people while photographing local scenes.
It's the first time that Ganzi Tibetan Autonomous Prefecture will host an international sporting event. It is expected to help develop its tourism industry and promote the prefecture's unique primary forests and high snow-covered mountains.
