On a blood donation vehicle parking in front of Lhasa Department Store, Qiu, a nurser from a local blood center, is bustling about with her colleagues as usual.

Qiu said, "there are more donators here, but still it's not enough, and there is an extreme shortage of type O blood at the Blood Center of Tibet Autonomous Region."

"I hope more and more people will come here to donate blood and give their love to those in need," she continued.

The blood donation vehicle comes to Lhasa Department Store every Tuesday and Thursday to collect blood, and to Beijing Middle Road Police Station on Fridays.

The regional Blood Center will save information of the donators into electronic archives, and issue certificates of voluntery blood donation to them.

Li Lina, a freshman of Tibet University majoring in medicine, came on board to give her blood. She is from Dazhou County in Sichuan Province, and this was her first time to donate blood.

When asked how it feels to give blood, Li said, "I felt nothing special, no pains either."

To relieve the donators' mental pressure, the nurses will usually have small talks with them and help them relax.

Another donator is a man named Zhang from Shaanxi Province, now working in Lhasa. An accidental donation years ago made him a regular donator who gives blood twice a year. Up to now, he has given blood for more than a score of times, and his target volume of blood donation is 10,000 ml.

"Blood donation is not only beneficial to others, but also good for the donator's metabolism," he said.

In addition, Qiu provided some tips for donators: have good rests before donating blood, take no drinking and nor medicine; no spicy food and strenuous exercises after the donation; female donators have to be no less than 45 kg in weight, as for male ones, no less than 50 kg.
