
Tibet has earmarked 6.38 million yuan to buy 6 sets of automatic monitoring system for atmospheric pollution in 6 cities and prefectures, and all have been put into operation.
"Except Ngari, Lhasa, Nagqu, Lhoka, Xigaze, Nyingchi and Chamdo prefectures in Tibet has used the automatic monitoring system for atmospheric pollution, which is able to measure sulfur dioxide, nitrogen dioxide and inhalable particulate matter," an official of Tibet regional bureau of environmental protection said, an automatic monitoring network has basically been set up in Tibet.
On June 5, the World Environment Day, the Tibet TV Station started to broadcast the daily report of ambient air quality of the 6 regions and forecast that of Lhasa.
"Monitoring system for atmospheric pollution is an essential for environmental protection and is convenient for the public to know the ambient air quality," said the official.
