Arts exhibition on 50th anniversary of Tibet's democratic reform to open
13:58, June 17, 2009

An exhibition featuring calligraphy, fine arts and photos will be held from June 18 to 24 at the Tibet Museum to mark the 50th anniversary of Tibet's democratic reform, according to the Tibet Regional Literature and Art Association.

The exhibition will display 30 art works, 160 photos and 80 calligraphy works in the Tibetan and Han languages.

The photos are in two parts, with the first part on the life of serfs in old Tibet, cracking-down-on armed rebellion, democratic reform and the signing of 17-Article Agreement, and the second part on Tibet's economic and social development over the past 50 years.

At the end of 2008, the Tibet Regional Literature and Art Association issued a notice to solicit exhibits. After careful assessment of hundreds of pieces, exhibit works have been finally determined. Among them, Holy Tibet, a Thangka created by a Tibetan folk artist Renqing Bazhu in eight months, is expected to be eye-catching.
