Central China city resumes packege tours to Tibet
14:10, June 18, 2009

Travel agencies in Wuhan, capital of central China's Hubei Province, resumed packege tours to Tibet on Tuesday with new promotion routes promoted.

This is the first time that Wuhan City resumed tours to Tibet in such a large scale after the March 14 riots in Lhasa last year.

The cheapest tour only costs 2,780 yuan, the cheapest one to Tibet ever promoted by travel agencies in Wuhan.

June to October is the best season in Tibet. The new routes launched by the travel agencies are more diverse than ever before. Most tour groups featuring seven to eleven days will fly from Wuhan to Xi'an, capital of Shaanxi Province in northwest China, and then to Lhasa. They will ride back to Wuhan by train.

Compared with the prices in 2008, the current prices to Tibet are at least 1,000 yuan lower. This is mainly because of the cheap air tickets. Flying from Wuhan to Xi'an then to Lhasa could only cost 1,200 yuan.

However, after Tibet enters peak travel season in July, the prices for travel routes may be 500 to 800 yuan higher.
