
Meteorologic expert said timely rain that dipped thirsty Lhasa on June 21 had actively impacted on crop's growth and reduced the possibility of forest fire despite the drought was not thus alleviated.
The Tibet Weather Bureau and weather modification operations office have been keeping a close eye on the weather to choose a best time for artificial precipitation operation in order to alleviate the drought to the biggest degree.
A report which came out to answer for the serious drought indicates rainfall might arrive in Xigaze and Lhasa from June 21 to 25, which is a propitious time to launch artificial precipitation.
Since June, most areas of Tibet have met a long period of hot weather without any rainfall and the average temperature is higher than the same period of former years.
The drought has caused insect plague and brought negative influence to grassland's growth.
