A theme park featuring the more than five-decade-old building where a Chinese general, also known as "father of Qinghai-Tibet Highway", was living, has been thrown open to public.
The theme park surrounding General Mu Shengzhong's landmark two-storied building built in 1956 in Golmud City, northwest China's Qinghai Province, opened Thursday.
The government of Golmud built the theme park to commemorate General Mu and his troops who constructed the Qinghai-Tibet Highway in 2007.
The theme park covers an area of 9.8 ha, with the funding hitting 67.6 million yuan. The key tourist attractions of the park are a tower in memory of the highway, Mr Mu's sculpture and sculptures depicting the scene of highway construction.
The park also houses a museum, showcasing the tools used by General Mu and his troops and the miniature landscape of the Qinghai-Tibet Highway.
