Tibet has in recent years put great effort to excavate, protect and publicize culture and folk-custom of different ethnic minorities in Nyingchi Prefecture.
Nyingchi, where Han, Tibetan, Hui, Moinba, Lhoba and some other ethnic groups dwell, is honored as "Jiangnan (River South) of Tibet".
Nanyi Lhoba Village in Mainling County is a vast melting pot of Lhoba ethnic minority. A dancing troupe with 16 members was set up there two months ago.
The troupe can not only boost tourism featuring rich characteristics of ethnic minority, but protect as well as carry forward indigenous Lhoba culture, said Lin Yong, deputy head of the village.
"We also perform in various cultural festivals at different regions, besides for tourists," said Lin.
According to Lin, other 7 counties in Nyingchi also have such a dancing troupe.
In these years, Nyingchi has produced a collection of traditional dancing and singing of different ethnic minorities such as Lhoba and Moinba ethnic groups, said Cui Xiaodong, head of Nyingchi Culture, Broadcasting, Film and Television Bureau.
A data with more than 1,000 words, 2,000-plus photos and some 100 tapes was formed after launching investigation in 100 villages of 32 townships.
Since 2004, Nyingchi has intensified their efforts to protect the intangible cultural heritage dominated by less populous ethnic groups.
Up till now, there are 43 intangible cultural heritage items at different levels in Nyingchi, of which, 8 comes from ethnic groups with less population.
