China allocates 150 million to protect Tibetan culture

The project which costs China 570 million yuan to protect precious cultural heritages has partly completed while preparation for the rest is in full swing.

Maintenance project in 22 top-priority cultural relics in Tibet includes Jokhang Temple, Ramoche Monastery, Drepung Monastery, Sera Monastery, Samye Monastery and etc.

Preliminary work for renovation of Jokhang Temple, Ramoche Monastery, Sera Temple, Drepung Monastery, Samye Monastery, Changzhub Monastery, Sekagutuo Monastery and Kegya Monastery, has finished by May 2009, according to Yu Dawa, head of Tibet local bureau for cultural heritage protection.

Renovation of Sekagutuo Monastery valued at 83.708 million yuan has finished the part A while the part B will be finished this year.

Work to repair the Changzhub Monastery and Kegya Monastery, which started in October 2008, is expected to be completed within this year.
