
The next possible viewing of a total solar eclipse for China will be on March 20, 2034. It will last about one minute and 40 seconds and will be seen over northern Tibet and western Qinghai Province, reporters learned from the Association for Science and Technology of Tibet Autonomous Region on July 21.
According to sources, the last annular eclipse over China took place in September, 1987. The first annular eclipse over China in the 21st century will fall on January 15, 2011. It will begin over Yunnan Province with an eclipse track of about 500 kilometers and then run through Sichuan Province, Chongqing, and the Provinces of Hubei, Henan and Shandong. It will last up to eight minutes and will be best observed in areas around Yunnan. At the same time, a partial solar eclipse will be seen in Tibet. Another annular solar eclipse will take place on May 21, 2012.
