(Xinhua Photo)China Mobile, the nation's biggest mobile operator, will invest 5.05 billion yuan RMB (739 million U.S. dollars) in the next five years to support Tibet's economic development and informationization.
This remark was made by Zhang Chunjiang, a leading official of China Mobile, at the signing ceremony of the strategic cooperation framework agreement between the Tibet Regional Government and China Mobile on Tuesday.
Chamba Phuntsok, chairman of the Tibet Regional Government, said that the government will vigorously support the 3G network construction in selecting base station sites, urban planning, environmental protection assessment and approval, and the introduction of electric power from elsewhere into Tibet.
Meanwhile, the Tibet Regional Government will also encourage China Mobile to participate in the development of E-government business and cooperate with the local cultural sector.
Under the agreement, the two sides will carry out intensive cooperation in eight aspects, such as the construction and application of 3G business, network infrastructure construction, rural informationization, the development of E-government business, and mobile E-business.
