Changtang: wildlife's paradise

Changtang National Nature Reserve located in the north of Gangdise Mountains, south of the Kunlun Mountains and Hoh Xil Mountains, occupies a total area of 29.8 million hectares.

"Changtang" means highland in the north in Tibetan with an average altitude of more than 5,000 meters is referred as "the roof the roof of the world".

The towering snow-capped mountains, glaciers, lakes, plateau and wetlands provide a unique natural environment for wildlife including wild yaks, Tibetan antelopes, Tibetan wild asses, Tibetan gazelles, argalis, black-necked cranes and so on.
