Tan Yungao, a leading official of the Regional Department of Civil Affairs, said that using the lottery charity fund to support social welfare and social security undertakings is a major reason for issuing welfare lotteries.
He urged the regional welfare lottery center to continue paying attention to the aid-education projects to benefit more poor students.
By the end of 2008, Tibet had earmarked 325 million yuan RMB (47.5 million dollars) raised from welfare lottery as the charity fund for social welfare projects in the region.
