(China Tibet Information Center Photo)So far this year, the Lhasa City Office of the State Administration of Taxation has reduced or exempted taxes worth 49.19 million yuan RMB (7.2 million U.S. dollars) for the taxpayers.
The Lhasa City Office of SAT cut the rate of the tax on purchasing small-displacement (less than 1.6 L) motor vehicles to five percent from the previous 10 percent on January 20, 2009.
In the first half of this year,a five-percent tax rate was levied on 1,873 vehicles, with 5.85 million yuan RMB (856,000 dollars) saved for the buyers.
Meanwhile, the office also implemented the tax reduction and exemption policies on the use of vehicles and vessels, as well as on used apartment transaction.
It reduced or exempted 770,000 yuan RMB (112, 000 dollars) in taxes on the use of vehicles and vessels of and 1.83 million yuan RMB (267,000 dollars) in sales tax.
Besides, the interests from individual savings deposit have been exempted from the individual income tax, which will save 4.11 million yuan RMB (601,000 dollars) for bank depositors in 2009.
To date, the Lhasa City Office of SAT has examined and approved the applications from 60 taxpayers for tax reductions and exemptions, saving them 36.63 million yuan RMB (5.36 million dollars).
