Small township in Tibet to 'fly' with the operation of highway

Located in the southwest of Medog county in Nyingchi prefecture and the downstream of the Yarlung Zangbo River, Baibung township is the largest township in Medog county and it is a place that tourists must pass through if they hike to Medog. With an altitude of more than 800 meters, Baibung township boasts subtropical climate and boasts a large number of wild animals and rare species of plants. And its scenery is wonderful with Moinba ethnic characteristics.

As it is not easy for outside people to visit Baibung township because of hard traffic conditions, resources in the township have not played an important role in its economy.

However, these resources will boost the development of the Baibung township with the operation of Zhamog-Medog Highway, according to Yang Zhengyong, Party secretary of the Baibung township. He believes that Baibung township, even the whole Medog county, will become "a rich household" in a short period if the traffic problem is solved.
