Lhasa citizens spend 55.24 mln yuan during National Day holiday

Citizens in Tibet's capital of Lhasa spent at least 55.24 million yuan RMB (8.09 million U.S. dollars) during the National Day holiday from Oct. 1 to 8, up 7.3 percent from the same period last year, according to Tibet Business.

The money was spent primarily on gifts, clothes, daily necessities, and household electric appliances. A staff worker of the Lhasa City Bureau of Commerce said that exceptionally popular items were senergy-efficient air conditioners, refrigerators and large screen TV sets were. Cars, garments, shoes and hats sold well, too.

During the eight-day holiday, the total sales of nine major department stores hit 45.88 million yuan, and those of eight hotels and restaurants reached 1.92 million yuan. A total of 54 cars were sold at four automobile dealerships at 5.96 million yuan.
