(Xinhua Photo)The products with Tibetan ethnic characteristics like Tibetan medicines have been well received by domestic and foreign consumers since the Qinghai-Tibet Railway opened to traffic on July 1, 2006.
A leading official of the Tibet Regional Bureau of Township Enterprises said that the first batch of 11,340 bottles of beer produced by the Lhasa Beer Brewery has been exported to the United States and the 5100 Glacier Mineral Water has been sold to Hong Kong.
Also selling well in Southeastern Asian countries are the products such as caterpillar fungi, matsutake, and Tibetan-style accessories.
Hindered by the poor transportation conditions, the otherwise competitive products with Tibetan characteristics could not go out of Tibet, making it hard for the Tibetan farmers and herders to shake off poverty.

In addition, Tibet has allocated 50 million yuan RMB to encourage the leading enterprises in agriculture and animal husbandry to extend their industry chains.
Tibet currently has 300 relatively large township-run enterprises and the farm products sold to other parts of China account for 35 percent of the region's agricultural and animal husbandry output value.
Tibet's distinctive industries have maintained a strong momentum so far this year, with 823 million yuan RMB spent on 65 projects in this sector.
