(CCTV.com Photo)As one of the performances celebrating the 60th anniversary of the founding of the People's Republic of China, a folk song and dance gala called "Mystic Tibet" was staged at Beijing's Tianqiao Theater on Tuesday.
The performance, presented by Tibet Autonomous Region's Song and Dance Ensemble, combines the artistic styles from the eastern, northern, and southern parts of Tibet.
In six acts, including "Snowy Mountain", "Grassland", "Sacred Lake", and "Deep Forest", the gala depicts the beautiful and unique natural landscape on the Qinghai-Tibet Plateau, and showcases the history and civilizations in the cultural cradle of the Tibetan ethnic group along the Yalong River Valley. The Silvan civilization, which is the soul of the Luoba and Menba Ethnic Group, is also demonstrated.
Director Wei Dong said, "All the music and dances are derived from Tibetan art and culture, as well as the costumes and ornaments. We discovered these spectacular elements and showcased them in one show."
The highlight of the gala is the combination of traditional Tibetan singing and dancing with folk music instruments. The audience saw the performance of two art forms listed as China State Intangible Cultural Heritages Langma, known as Tibetan court music and Duixie Dance were performed. The performances also displayed Tibetan tap dancing, distinctive costumes, and the passion of the Tibetan people.
