Snow-covered Plateau Paintings Exhibition of China

China is a united multi-ethnic country and Tibet is one of the important members in large Chinese family of nationalities. Tibetan people live in Qinghai-Tibet Plateau called as "roof of world" for generations. In long time, magnificent natural scenery and unique folk custom of Tibetan Nationality in Qinghai-Tibet Plateau not only attract people all over the world, but also provide inexhaustible source of inspiration and wide space of imagination for artistic creation from artists of different nationalities in China.

In the history, Tibet has experienced feudal serfdom society with integration of politics and religion even darker than the Middle Ages in Europe and didn't change until middle of last century. Tibet carried out democratic reform and abolished feudal serfdom system with integration of politics and religion in 1959, from when Tibet started to develop by leaps. Along with this great historical process, artists of different nationalities in China witnessed the historic change of Tibet with passionate brush, so that themes about Tibet has become an important subject in contemporary Chinese fine arts, which added a valuable spiritual and cultural wealth for Chinese culture.

It is the 60th anniversary for foundation of the People's Republic of China and the 50th anniversary for democratic reform of Tibet this year. Paintings Exhibition of China named "Snow-covered Plateau" held in Italy will display excellent paintings with themes about Tibet from artists of different nationalities in China and discuss spiritual characteristics and cultural value of paintings with themes about Tibet, which is of important significance for pushing art exchange and research between China and Italy.

More than one hundred paintings of the exhibition include traditional Chinese painting, oil painting, print, watercolor, cloth painting and other kinds of paintings. They are outstanding ones selected from numerous Chinese painters' fine arts works with themes about Tibet, which not only covered most important works of fine arts creation with themes about Tibet, but also collected fine works from dozens of young and middle-aged leaders in contemporary Chinese fine arts circle. It records development history of Chinese fine arts with themes about Tibet for 60 years from foundation of the Peoples' Republic of China and represents level of Chinese painters' artistic creation. We believe that the exhibition can offer beautiful enjoyment to Italian audiences and inspire their enthusiasm to know Tibet more.
