Lhasa to spend 79 mln yuan improving flood control work

The Lhasa City Government will spend 79 million yuan RMB (anout 11.6 million U.S. dollars)improving the city's flood control system, according to the Water Resources Bureau of Lhasa.

The project involves five counties under the jurisdiction of Lhasa, namely Dagze, Lhunzhub, Nyemo, Maizhokunggar and Damxung.

A staff worker of the bureau said that attention will be paid to the safety of drinking water of rural residents, and construction of farmland irrigation and water conservancy work.

Potential safety hazards of dykes will be eliminated as well, said the staff on Oct. 23, 2009.
