The Tibetan primitive song-and-dance opera titled "Rainbow on Mt. Qomolangma" premiered at the 11th International Arts Festival held in Shanghai last Friday, attracting audience with unique Tibetan folklores.
The six-part opera tells of the whole life of an ordinary Tibetan from his birth, adulthood, marriage and death.
Gyba Lodro, director of Tibet's Xigaze Cultural Bureau, said: "Officials from Shanghai for aid to Tibet have been assisting Xigaze's development for years. We hope to present the charm of the snow-covered plateau's culture to Shanghainese with this opera bearing distinctive Tibetan customs and religious culture."
The opera will be performed in the New Pudong District after being staged twice at the Shanghai Majestic Theatre.
