2nd batch of Lhasa beer to go to U.S.
09:12, October 27, 2009

A batch of 9,038 boxes of Lhasa beer began to be transported by train on Oct. 24 from Lhasa to the Tianjin Port, from which they will shipped to the U. S.

This is the second order Lhasa Beer Co. Ltd. has received from the U.S., after the first batch of 11,340 boxes arrived there on May 18. The beer is made from highland barley produced in Tibet.

The dealer of Lhasa beer, Dzambuling Imports based in the United States, launched sales of the Tibetan beer in Texas, U.S., on Aug. 3. Since then, the beer has posted good sales in the U.S., necessitating the second order from the dealer.

The external packaging of the Lhasa beer exported to the U.S. is yellow and carries Tibetan characteristics, with a thangka painted on the front. Each box contains 24 bottles of 350 ml beer each.

The production of the second batch of beer incorporated experience learned from that of the first batch, as well as feedbacks from the customers. The production was overseen by and passed the inspection of the Entry-Exit Inspection and Quarantine Bureau of Tibet.

According to the order form, 300 tons of Lhasa beer will go to the U.S. every two months before June next year. After that foreign order will hit 1,000 tons per month.
