Tibet's Drug-rehabilitation Center involving an investment of 12.28 million yuan (1.49 million U.S. dollars) by the Central Government will open at the end of this year.
As the region's first general agency for drug addiction rehabilitation, the center will provide addicts with services such as physiological relief from drugs and psychological treatment, according to the Tibet Business Newspaper.
Located in Xongda Township, Doilungdeqen County, the center will cover an area of 6.6 ha after completion and is 20 km away from downtown Lhasa.
Now, the Tibet's Public Security Department is hiring professional medical staff for the center, said Soinam Zaindu, vice-general of the department's Anti-drug Corps.
Doctors are required to have a professional title of physician or above with the right to prescribe narcotic drugs and psychotropic substances. Nurses must have the title for nursing technique or have received professional training on nursing know-how.
The employed medical staff will be sent to rehabilitation centers in inland cities for one-month training, said Zaindu.
