
The Lhasa City Government will spend 460,000 yuan to assist 334 poor high school students to pay for their tuitions, according to a work panel on poor students' financing in the non-compulsory education period.
Students applying for the assistance have to be second- or third-year students in senior middle schools directly managed by the Lhasa City Government.
The assistance is also available to poor Tibetan students studying in senior middle school or classes run specially for students from Tibet by schools in other parts of China.
Qualified students in ordinary senior middle schools and vocational schools will be granted 400 yuan per person every year, and those studying in key province-level high schools and vocational schools and above will receive 600 yuan per person annually.
Poor students in Tibetan high schools or in Tibetan classes run by high schools in other parts of China will also be given a 600 yuan subsidy per person every year.
