(Chinatibetnews Photo)A total of 770 people in Tibet have become volunteers to donate their hemopoietic stem cells since the Tibet Branch of the Chinese Marrow Donor Program (CMDP) was set up in August 2007.
Tibet's first volunteer succeeded in donating his hemopoietic stem cells in April. The donor didn't feel uncomfortable after donation. Recently, Qin Quanchang, a 29-year-old man who works in Tibet's Shannan Prefecture went to Hunan Province to give hemopoietic stem cells to a leucocythemia patient.
Dengzhu Langjie, head of the Tibet Branch CMDP, said no special requirement has been set for anyone who wants to be a donor of hemopoietic stem cells if only his/her blood meets the standards. He also invited more people to become donors.
