Qomolangma", which was premiered at the 11th Shanghai International Arts Festival, held its press conference in Shanghai on Wednesday.
The opera, performed by the Xigaze Ethnic Art Troupe, gives an epic panorama of the local culture, religion, customs and lifestyles of Xigaze Prefecture, southwestern Tibet.
The troupe has spent three years in preparing and rehearsing the six-part opera with a purpose to showcase the unique Tibetan culture and art as well as raise the region's fame both at home and abroad.
It is also a way to boost the relationship between Shanghainess and Tibetans.
