Hope Project benefits Tibetan children

Over 90% children in this village go to school since the boarding school was built in 1990's. The China Youth Development Foundation (CYDF) announced the establishment of Hope Project in October 1989. The first Hope Project foundation stone was laid in Taomugeda Village, Laiyuan County, north China's Hebei Province, Oct. 30, 2009. China's first Hope primary school was built in Jinzhai County, east China's Anhui Province in April, 1990. Deng Xiaoping wrote the inscription "Hope Project" on Sep. 5, 1990. Hope Project, which celebrated its 20th anniversary in October 2009, has raised 5.3 billion yuan, financed the education of 3.38 million needy students, and built 15,444 primary schools.
