With the express, 80,000 farmers and herders in the prefecture will be able to take physical examinations for free.
Since 2005, the Apple Foundation, together with the health departments in Ngari, has trained 261 barefoot doctors (rural residents with the mastery of basic medical skills and not on the government payroll) and 141 midwives, and donated medicines and medical equipment worth seven million yuan RMB.
Moreover, the foundation has provided financial support for building four schools and eleven libraries in the prefecture.
