Nyingchi reports 2.6 billion yuan in GDP in 3Q

Nyingchi Prefecture in southeastern Tibet reported a 2.61 billion yuan in its gross domestic products (GDP) in the first three quarters of 2009, according to the Nyingchi Statistics Bureau.

The figure was 12.9 percent higher than the same period of 2008.

In the first 9 months, the fix assets hit 2.97 billion yuan, up 14.8 percent year on year, and the retail sales of consumer goods came to 706 million yuan, a 26.2 percent higher than the same period of last year.

The fiscal revenue raised by 27.1 percent to 198 million yuan as compared to the same period of 2008, and the enterprises in downtown areas generated 230 million yuan in total output value, up 21 percent.

Besides, the farmers and herdsmen received 4,245 yuan in per capita net income and 3,324 yuan in the per capita cash income during that period, increased by 23 percent and 15.9 percent respectively.

To date, Nyingchi has received 942,100 tourists from home and abroad, bringing a total tourism revenue of 690 million yuan, soared by 240 percent over the same period of the previous year. 6,900 people found jobs in tourism business.

From January to September, in Nyingchi there are 218 ongoing and newly started projects, including country road and tunnel construction and flood-control and electricity projects.

To date, the total tax revenue in Nyingchi came to 104 million yuan, up 30.68 per cent year-on-year while the savings deposits jumped by 25.32 percent over that of last year, to 5.45 billion yuan.
