
Students of Tibet University received certificates as volunteer fighfighters on April 17, 2009. (Tibet Business Photo)A total of 450 college students in Tibet have received training to become volunteer firefighters, according to Lhasa Evening News.
The Rights and Interests Department of the Tibet Autonomous Regional Communist Youth League Committee enrolled volunteer firefighters from colleges and universities in Tibet. Among them, 100 from the Tibetan Traditional Medicine College and 350 from Tibet Vocational College were given training on Nov. 5 and 6.
The efforts are intended to raise public awareness of fire safety, and encourage more involvement by the public in fire control.
Training courses held by the Fire Brigade of Tibet cover the subjects such as laws, regulations and rudimentary knowledge of fire control.
The training will enable the volunteers to publicize fire control knowledge to the public.
