The first group of 120 technicians from Tibet have been sent to colleges and research institutes in other parts of China for advanced study, according to the Tibet Autonomous Regional Government.
The training plan, jointly drawn up by related central departments and the Tibet Autonomous Regional Government, has been approved by the State Council, China's cabinet.
The Central Government began in 2009 to allocate special funds for the training program.
According to the plan, 120 technicians from Tibet will be trained every year during 2009 and 2013.
They will join in a one-year training program in the educational, health, research and development, and business sectors in inland areas.
Meanwhile, experts from other parts of China will be sent to Tibet to give lectures and offer technical guidance.
Statistics show that by the end of 2008, Tibet had had 49,000 professionals, with 37,000 from ethnic minorities, or 75.5 percent of the total.
