
Namtso Lake, 240 km north of Lhasa, capital city of southwest China's Tibet Autonomous Region, is the highest salt lake in the world. The lake covers an area of 1,940 sq m and is located at an altitude of more than 4,700 m. ( Lhasa Evening News Photo)The ticket price of the Namtso scenic zone in Damxung County dropped to 50 yuan from 80 yuan from Nov. 1 to April 30 next year, according to the Tourism Bureau of Damxung County, Lhasa, Tibet.
Some roads in the scenic zone have been frozen as it is getting cold in Tibet, so tourists are unable to visit Lake Namtso for the sake of their safety. Yet they can enjoy the view of the lake on Mt. Lagenla.
A staff worker of the bureau said security personnel have been on guard around the clock at the ticket offices, the villagers' committee of Namtso Village, and Zhaxi Island.
