The 1,956-km railway, a landmark project for Western China Development, has transported 8.3 million passengers and 62.21 million tons of cargo since its operation in 2006.
The railway runs from Xining, capital of the Qinghai Province, to Lhasa, capital of Tibet Autonomous Region.
The Qinghai-Tibet Railway, which connects the landlocked region to the rest of the country, has been accelerating the growth of the local tourism industry and helping Tibet's catering and retailing industries achieve prosperity.
Along the railway Nagqu Logistics Center becomes the first logistics hub linking the railway to highways, boosting the flow of passengers, cargoes, funds and information.
The railway has also brought chances for a mineral water company, the Tibet Glacier Mineral Water Co. Ltd. in Damxung Nyemo County in Lhasa. The company's "5100" Glacier Mineral Water is now carried to many other provinces via the railway and is well received.
Qinghai Salt Lake Potash Co. Ltd. located at Golmud, western Qinghai Province, has also benefited from the railway. The convenient railway transportation helps the company to explore a larger market for its potash products.
