The ongoing-visiting Tibetologists delegation to France introduced the social and economic development of Tibet as well as answered questions raised by French journalists when holding a symposium with French media on November 25.
At the very beginning, the delegation presented the social and economic development to journalists from "Liberation" and some radio and TV stations as well as answered questions about Tibet's population policy, environmental protection, Tibetan language teaching and the contact between the Chinese central government and the Dalai Lama.
Shen Kaiyun, vice chairman of the Tibetan Autonomous Region's Foreign Cultural Exchange Association as well as head of the delegation said he hoped the French media can introduce a true Tibet to the French people.
Shen Kaiyun said when interviewed by journalists that before the Beijing Olympics in 2008, there were some unhappy incidents happened in France focusing on Tibet issue. Some French locals had some misunderstanding misdirected by media. As a scholar, Shen held that he should present a true Tibet, a developing and animate Tibet to all the French people
Shen Kaiyun said that from the symposium, we can found the French journalists know little about Tibet and through this kind of idea-exchanging, it will be helpful for the world to better understand Tibet and for Tibet to be closer with the whole world.
The six-member Chinese Tibetologists delegation arrived at Paris, capital of France on Nov 23 for a four-day visit and on Nov 24, Frederic Laplanche, deputy director of the Asia-Pacific Department of the French Foreign Ministry had a discussion with the visiting delegation.
