Sichuan's Ngawa completes this year's affordable housing project

A total of 2,146 families in Tibetan-inhabited Ngawa County, northwestern Sichuan Province, have moved into new houses as the county has met this year's target for an affordable housing project.

Infrastructure related to the project has also been completed, such as water and power supplies, roads, telephone and other services, according to Sichuan Daily.

Ngawa County plans to build within three years affordable houses for 8,507 rural families with a total of 51,762 people.

In accordance with the policy on affordable housing project, the county has also made energetic efforts to step up its industrial development and community construction, including medical services, social services and democratic governing.

Ngawa County covers an area of 10,435 sq km at an altitude of 3,290 meters, with Tibetans accounting for 90.7 percent of its 60,000 residents.
