Tibet plans to build the China-Nepal Cross-Border Economic Cooperation Zone in Gyiron Port of Entry, in a move to develop passageways to overland trade in South Asia.

Nepal has responded positively to such a plan.

Officials of Tibet's Commerce Department revealed Thursday the routes and schedule concerning building these passageways, including the completion of the overall plan on how to develop the regional ports of entry, namely, Gyiron, Zham, Yadong and Burang.

Meanwhile, Tibet will also focus on developing a transport network, including construction of the Qinghai-Tibet Railway's extension from Lhasa to Xigaze, and logistic centers in Nagqu Prefecture and capital of Lhasa.

"The Overall Plan of Tibet Autonomous Regional Ports of Entry is part of the aid-Tibet project undertaken by China's Ministry of Commerce. It has passed the preliminary examination by the State Council," said Ma Xiangcun, director of the Tibet Commerce Commerce.
