Veiled climate change: Dalai continues money-grabbing speeches in Australia
15:30, December 11, 2009

When the world's political leaders and experts gathered in Copenhagen, Denmark to hold a global climate change conference, the Dalai Lama, who was visiting Australia in the southern hemisphere some 10,000 miles away, also could not control himself. His third public speech in Australia was themed around "climate change." However, reporters learned that climate change was just a cover. In the speech, the Dalai Lama was still spreading "Tibetan independence" to deceive the overseas audience who do not know the truth.

It was only window-dressing, climate change was hardly mentioned

The speech was held on December 8 at the Derwent Entertainment Center in Hobart, which is the capital city of Australia's Tasmania State. The title of the speech was extremely attractive: Our Earth- Who Should Be Responsible for It?

However, reporters found that during the two-hour speech and Q&A session, the Dalai Lama said nearly nothing about the environment and climate change. Only when Tibet of China was mentioned did he unconcernedly say that he also cares about Tibet's ecological environment protection as well as Tibet's human rights, religious beliefs and cultural heritage protection. Through the whole speech, it was the only thing that the Dalai Lama mentioned about the environment and climate.

The Dalai Lama's action of window dressing by vigorously advertising the climate change theme and actually saying almost nothing about it in his speech was extremely confusing. Was his original intention just to confuse the audience and make money from the speech? Or, does the Dalai Lama really know nothing about the climate issues so that he could not say a thing at all? No matter what, the audience who wished to hear some brilliant opinions about climate issues from the Dalai Lama undoubtedly wasted their money on the expensive tickets.
