Xiamula Glacier Natural Mineral Water, Tibet's largest project involving Shanghai investment, is ready to market its products after years of preparations, according to its producer Xiamula Natural Beverage co., Ltd. on Saturday.
The company was founded in Amdo County, Nagqu Prefecture in northern Tibet, at an altitude of 5,350 meters in July of 2007 by Tibet Dingfeng Water Resources co., Ltd, a joint venture between Shanghai and Tibet.
The mineral water comes from the Xiamula Spring, the "spring of life" in the eyes of Tibetans, at the foot of the Xiamula Mountain. The water of the Xiamula Spring comes from the Geladandong Glacier, which came into being thousands of years ago with an elevation of 6,600 meters.
"No one has the experience of building a factory in such a highland place and we have overcome lots of difficulties, such as a harsh climate and geographic environment," a senior official of the company said.
Produced in October, the first bottle of the Xiamula Glacier Natural Mineral Water contained rich mineral materials and microelements, according to the company.
