21,068 Tibetans benefit from safe drinking water project in Lhasa

At present, the second batch of safe drinking water construction project in rural areas has entered into the closing stage, with 21,068 Tibetans from 7 counties of Lhasa being benefited, sources from Lhasa Water Resources Bureau.

In 2008, the central government allocated 41.8 million yuan for the first batch of safe drinking water construction project which benefited 38,816 Tibetans. Moreover, 22.7 million yuan has been invented in Lhasa for the second batch of safe drinking water construction project this year.

Safe drinking water construction as one of key projects during the "Eleventh Five-Year Plan" period is expected to help 196,800 Tibetans drink tap water by 2010.
