Tibetan mezzo-sopranos singer to hold solo concert in Lhasa

With three years' preparation, famous Tibetan mezzo-soprano Chodron is going to launch her solo concert in Lhasa, capital of Tibet, on January 6, to mark the 30th anniversary of her artist career.

Born in Nyingchi in southeastern Tibet, Chodron has a clear mezzo-soprano voice. She was taken in by the Sing and Dance Troupe of Tibet in 1974 and later was sent to the Shanghai Conservatory of Music, known as cradle of artist, for further study. After her graduation in 1979, she returned to the Sing and Dance Troupe of Tibet, thus officially took up the art career as a musician, which she has been pursuing for 30 years.

In 1997, she performed in Italy, Switzerland and Greece as one of the members of the Sing and Dance Troupe of Tibet, earning positive praise from foreign audience.

Chodron said: "Over the last 30 years, I was lucky to perform extensively in the large or medium-sized cities in mainland areas with the Sing and Dance Troupe of Tibet, and traveled abroad to perform for foreign audience, showing the new life and development in new Tibet and expressing the sincere affection of Tibetan people."

"As one of the Tibetan artist, I'm rooted in Tibet, among its people," said Chodron.
