Hospitalized delivery rate in Tibet rises to 51.65%

The rate of Tibetan women giving birth to babies in hospitals has reached around 51.65 percent in Tibet Autonomous Region.

Phurbu Drolma, head of the Tibet Department of Public Health, said in a current conference on work, the mortality rate of pregnant and lying-in women and infant have dropped from 24.82 percent in 2008 to current 21.15 percent.

Local government of Tibet offers awards to those who give birth in hospitals as a gesture of encouragement. The maternal and child health care has been improved.
