Butter sculptures embellish Taer Monastery

Photo taken on February 28, 2010, shows several monks of the Taer Monastey in Xining, capital of northwest China's Qinghai Province, preparing for a butter sculpture exhibition. The monastery held a large butter sculpture exhibition on the same day, attracting 120,000 visitors. The butter sculpture, one of the three artistic treasures of the Taer Monastey, is made of butter by Buddhist monks. The sculptures feature Buddhas, human figures, birds and beasts, as well as trees and flowers. (Xinhua Photo)
