How long does it take for an album to become double platinum? Chinese folk singer Sa Dingding's new release took less than two months.

Sa received a double-platinum certification for her album "Harmony" from the China Audio and Video Association at a ceremony held in Beijing on Tuesday.

That means "Harmony" has sold at least 100,000 copies since its release in China on February 1.

Before the album officially went on sale, Sa released a preview of it on iTunes. The album then took just two days to top iTunes' "World Music" chart, according to the singer's official Web site.

The success of "Harmony" follows in the footsteps of the singer's previous album, "Alive", which won her a BBC World Music Award in 2008.

Continuing the ethnic theme from "Alive", Sa uses sounds she collected from Yunnan Province on her new album "Harmony" and sings songs in Mandarin, Sanskrit and a self-invented language.

Sa told reporters Tuesday that she would begin a world tour next month with stops in South Korea, Malaysia, Singapore, and Europe.

"But what I'm anticipating the most is my Beijing show in June," she said.

Ticket information for the shows will be made available at a later date.
